Mexico
New to Neighbourhood and straight from the small town of Tenejapa in southern Mexico! A superb all-rounder and dangerously easy to keep drinking.
Hailing from the Chiapas state of southern Mexico, this is a new coffee for us, following on the heels of a coffee from the neighbouring town of San Cristobal del Casas, which we roasted last year. Tenejapa is a small town, about four hours drive from the border with Guatemala, where local Mayan dialects are still spoken, and farmers seek to work with the land. This lot is comprised of Caturra, Costa Rica, Typica, Marsellesa varietals, and despite being relatively low in altitude, there’s plenty going on thanks to quality farming & processing practices.
This Tenejapa is a more simple brew than some we offer, so it’s a superb all-rounder. Think toffee apple, milk chocolate and hazelnut, so guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and dangerously easy to keep drinking. Whether it’s in a cafetière or an Aeropress, in an espresso or in milk, it’s one of those coffees that just works.
